Look who's 50!
Troop 155 turns the Big 5-0
in 2002!

Over 200 former and present troop members, family and friends gathered at the Northbridge Middle School on Saturday evening, April 27, 2002 to celebrate Troop 155's first 50 years.  Among those gathered were former Troop leaders Ren Yeo, Herb Andrews, Brad Brown, John Bosma, Burnie Miller, Sid Koopman, and Jim Wheeler.

The evening began with a catered Italian buffet in the school's cafeteria.    After the meal, all adjourned to the school auditorium for a program of history and fun.  Each Troop 155 patrol presented some history as it happened in the troop's first five decades.  A roll call of former members present that evening was announced by Troop Committee Chairman Bill Dowdle.  Prizes were given to the oldest troop member (Paul Wheeler, who joined Troop 155 in 1952 at age 11), the youngest troop member (Jason John, who is just 11), and the member who traveled the furthest to be with the gathering that night (John Betts - 94 miles).  Committeeman Doug Thompson presented eight short video clips on a giant screen, highlighting the extensive Troop 155 traveling program over the past 30 years.  Selectman Charles Ampagoomian presented a citation from the Town of Northbridge honoring the troop.  Similar citations were presented by George Peterson from the Massachusetts House of Representatives and from Richard Moore from the Massachusetts Senate.  Words of greeting were delivered by John King on behalf of the Mohegan Council, and by Dick Trier, on behalf of the Northeast Region of the BSA.

To cap off the evening, Andrew D. Lange became the Troop's 66th Eagle Scout in an Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony.  The Eagle Charge was read by Kenneth Howard, who was one of four scouts receiving the Eagle Badge in the Troop's very first Eagle Ceremony in 1966.
